Electricity is used in nearly everything we do, and the demand for electricity continues to grow with advances in technology. From the appliances that store food to the phones that keep us in contact with others no matter where they are, people rely on electricity and that makes an electrician a very valuable and lucrative job. In fact, U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics reported early in 2025 the projected percent change in electrician employment (from 2023 to 2033) to be 11 percent. Check IEC Workforce Development Institute research for more information.
Here are the top five states with the highest electrical employment level.

Annual mean wage for electricians in Texas is $56,350.
3) Florida
A much smaller state by area than the two above it in the list, The Sunshine State is a peninsula, with plenty of rivers and lakes inland as well. Florida is the third most populous state and a standout in tourism and agriculture. Electricians are in high demand to keep the state running, and the annual mean wage for Florida electricians is $52,380.
4) New York
